Pellet stove

Anyone have a pellet stove that uses and existing 8" wood fire place chimney? Did you run 3" pipe through the 8" or did you use a 3" to 8" adapter? The instructions say you can do both but cant find an adapter.

I have the 6" flue and I have the 3" pellet vent pipe. I made an aluminum adapter and I have the 3" pellet vent pipe going about 12" up into the existing 6" which is a good air insulator. That aluminum billet cost me $90, I machined it up at work last year.

I'm a a lose here! Are you talking about using steel(sheet metal) tripple wall pipe or brick fire place chimney? These are 2 different application. I had and adpter made to go from 3" to 8", that goes up thur ceiling.

Most sheet metal shop can fab you adpter you need. Also I found one at my local hardware shop.

OK what I see is tripple wall pipe, what you are going to need is a ceiling cap for the tripple wall, this stop the heat lose out thur you tripple wall pipe. And still allows the air circulating in the two exterior sections of pipe. Then you get an adapter to convert from 8" to 3" from your pellet stove.

I'll try to get picture of the ceil cap I have in the storage shed tomorrow.

On my pellet stove it has the stainless pipe installed on the stove and is then pushed up into the flue liner. No adapter was used. I had that superflue liner installed about 12 years ago
it doesn't have any mortar joints anymore. Hal

I do and they put in a 3 in. stainless pipe the book calls for this for proper draw. It real simple you can do it your self.

Its easy to install that stainless flex pipe and I remove mine once a year to clean the back of the stove. You need to clean behind those styrofoam panels since a lot of ash will get in there. Hal

we build our room with the idea we might switch to a reg. wood stove if the pellet stove didn"t work out so we installed "Class A" 6inch pipe from the ceiling on up. I found an adaptor at TSC to go from the 3inch pellet pipe to the 6inch. I don"t think they carry much for pipe stuff anymore but you could look. It was made by the company that makes the pellet pipe but I don"t know the brand as I took the labels off. Its worked very well as parts to install and finish off the 6inch pipe at the ceiling were easier to find. Google [Topeka seed and stove]. they"re in Indiana but can probably tell you what/where to get what you need. Enjoy your stove.
