Guess the ol' PS pump has turned one too many times.

Darned impeller is wobbled out on the shaft and the drive pin is all but non-existant. Front seal was half turned inside out too; weird. :>(

Good news is that a new one is on the way, so guess this one will get "core" duties.

But hey! The bracket and pulley are still good!:>)

We have a saying in Australia when that sort of things happen Allan. It goes "you win some and lose a lot"
Seems to come up now and again.

Never to worry, that new pump should have it hummng soon.

Had to do a little digging. I thought that they were GM pumps. Come to find out they are Eatons that were used on a lot of the old Fords.

$98 exchange, which I didn't think was too awfully bad.

Well I'll be. I thought they were vanes but they used the slippers that they also used in the FT pumps that replaced the Eatons. Were there small coil springs behind the slippers? The FT pumps used a splined shaft to engage the rotor splines.

Speaking of core charges, I just replaced the RF CV axle on my Chevy 4X4 pickup because the outer boot was torn.

A reman axle at NAPA was $57--with a $125 core charge. Good thing I had the foresight to pull the old axle and take it along when I went for the reman.

cat 3406b water pump core charge 500.00. they want stuff back because the price of scrap is so high guys just drop it in the scrap bin
