It appears to me that the bottom of the shed wall has slots. Is this to let in light or for ventilation? Here a building built like that would need shutters in the winter to keep snow out. I do realize that you do not get snow like we do.

It appears that the lower part of that shed wall is slatted or louvered. Would that be for ventilation or ...?
I appreciate your posts and photos of the UK.
