Photo- Straw prices

Had several calls wanting straw, both individuals aswell as feed store, lawn and garden places. They all want to buy it for $2 or less per bale and sell it for $5 to $8. I'm told mine is high at $3, I dont see any reason they deserve to make more than I do. I'm not compaining just stating facts, what does everyone else think? What is straw worth where you are.

Photo is from Wal-mart at Cameron, Mo straw is priced at $6.97 probably bought locally for $2 or less.

City people use it fer "decoration". Planning to sell a dozen bound cornstalks for $5 for the same porpose. Here in a town of 5000, sweet corn from northern ohio sells for 4.50 a dozen. Another kid my age saw my kuboder and said "that must have cost $1000!!"........No kidding

I think your right. I own a wholesale/retail nursery, and the wholesale buyers do the same to me. I think that i am the one that worked and risk all to put that crop in and feed and nurture it to the point of being ready to retail, and ill be da** if im gonna let them make ALL the profit. I dont want to get rich on one crop, I just want enough to live on and put in another crop so we can do it again next year. If they expect less out of me then they can go elsewhere and ive told a few just that.
By the way. I do not and will not sell to the big box stores. There are enough mom and pop businesses out there to keep the farm up.

The local farm store was selling straw for $4.00, but mostly to ignorant town people for their decorations.
We sell ours for $2.00 picked up at our place. They can buy one or they can buy a thousand.
I could maybe sell them for $3.00, but they would move slower and I figure at $2.00 they have no right to complain about size shape color or quality as no one sells for less than $2.00.

Well... As it has been Said here on this Board Most People just want ONE Bale or maybe two, 'FER Decorations, that the reason for the price per Bale Increase, You know the saying Cheaper by the Dozen, and or in this case Truck Load. Larry KF4LKU

I'm not real smart, but know that you sure out smarted the little lady that throwed them up to you so you could stack them. My picture showed up a little fuzzy so I can't see either of you to well.

I'm a lookin for a woman that is big enough to pull a beer wagon without breaking a sweat, so you all keep a eye out for me if you would all be so kind to do so.

I hope you are not offended as it certianly is not the intent.

The little lady is my ten year old and the tractor driver of this operation. My son is atop doing the stacking and yours truely did the throwin. I was behind the camera at that moment and I must say any picture I've taken with a cell phone has been poor quality, but it beats carrying a camera to the field with me.
As far as looking for a big woman, there's plenty of them around nowdays, only I don't think most of them have ever broke a sweat other than bending over to tie their shoes!
What you want isn't neccessarily a big woman, but a strong one. We had a neighbor once who had a big strong gal and he always said he was looking for one that could carry two buckets of feed on a dead run through the mud. There's a big difference between fat and muscle. Good Luck.
