Pictures and Puzzles Thread

Trying something new this morning and putting all the pictures and puzzles on one thread. Chris suggested this to keep them all together. County Super 4 from 1962. Always wish Ford had used this colour scheme in England.

David Brown Industrial crawler, a 50 ITD.

Steyr 8070

Austrian tractor manufacturer now part of Case New Holland. These were the Rolls-Royce of tractors at the time and although they were not a large company, they developed a number of improvements to tractors over the years. Brought out a CVT gearbox which CNH now use and the tractors have a similar reputation to Fendt in Europe.

Stripper Header

H. V. McKay was the large manufacturer of stripper/headers in Australia in his Sunshine works near Melbourne and he is credited to be the man who developed the system but he actually developed the invention of a man named Headley Taylor. Headley Taylor started to build units but then received an offer he could not refuse from McKay and went to work for him. Other companies also made strippers that worked on a similar principle and design with the threshing done immediately behind the stripping fingers. With no straw being taken into the machine, it could be kept very compact.

Herbert Austin, the man who built the Austin 7 and many other cars between the two wars, tried to take on Henry Ford in tractor manufacture. Like a number of other companies, the Austin tractor was more rugged and slightly more powerful than the Ford Model F and N but it could not compete on price and production costs. Eventually the factory was moved to Austin's French works where production continued with the first diesel version coming out in the late 1930's. Quite a successful tractor in France but production ceased in early WW2 when the factory was captured by German forces. Herbert Austin's company and his great rival William Morris eventually joined forces and formed The British Motor Corporation (BMC) and continued building cars, trucks and Nuffield tractors.

That is where the "New" button does it's job.
