Pigs

Couple weeks ago there was some talk of feeder pigs. Well my three just moved into their outside living area over the weekend... Here they are. The red one is a character. I am looking forward to the bacon and sausage!!

We just brought ours home on Friday. The price was spooky, but now that it's done, I guess I'm committed.

I was lucky, through a friend of a friend I found a nursery operator who had culls. The packing plant owned the pigs he just raised them. Packing plant people came in and culled out the ones they didn't want. It was up to the farmer to get rid of them. He takes them to a big cat rescue(lions, tigers, etc). So any I took were ones he didn't have to take to be lion food. So these little guys were free. He had about 100 to choose from.

I willmost likely get more from him, you can't beat free...(though I have about 25 bucks a piece in food to get them from 9lbs to 40, so nothing is free)

That last pick of the reddish one looks an awful lot like the brother in laws ex girlfriend, only difference is the pig is a little cuter and has better teeth.

My 1st cousin used to raise a goose or duck for Thanksgiving meal. They named it after whatever the current president was.

So, I had Nixon & Carter & so forth for Thanksgiving back when.....

Nice looking herd. I have bought some to feed the last couple years but feed prices put me out of business for now. Only got 4 pigs for son's 4-H project. Got 2 Berkshires and 2 Spots.
