Pitless adapter

Instead of digging in HARD dirt alongside my steel well casing to access the outlet from the pitless adapter, is there another way. Is there an pitless that hangs on the casing but has an outlet that goes straight up so that I can make a new connection above the cap? Maybe it's a tall order, but someone out there may have a suggestion.

I don,t know what you are doing ,but if you are pulling a sub. pump and you have a pitless adaper then you don't have to dig it up. If you want to be able to draw water at the wellhead then get a yard hyd, drill a hole in the well cap remove top or bottom from yard hyd slip cap onto yard hyd. put the top or bottom of the yard hyd. back on.- Remove the pitless adp. half that the pump hangs onto, remove that half from pump water line, Drill out the top part of the pittless adp. now you have a open fitting from the pump water line straight up, now screw the yard hyd into that half of the pitless adp. "will need some fittings " reinstall all the parts , put a bead of sillycone around the well cap and yard hyd, now you have water at the well head and you will be able to drain this yard hyd by shutting it off. BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL PLUMPING, GARDEN HOSE BEFORE YOU SHUT OFF THE YARD HYD.

If you've got a broken water line, you have to dig it up. The whole point of the pitless adapter is to keep all the plumbing below the frost line.

When mine broke, I had the bright idea to dig it up by hand. The water line was six feet down in solid clay. I ended up calling a well driller, who quickly dug it up with a mini backhoe. Even if I had managed to dig down to the water line, I still wouldn't have been able to extract the broken pipe fitting from the wellhead. For some jobs, it's best to call a pro.

Why else would he want to get the outlet? It would, of course, be helpful if Sam would explain what it is he actually wants to do.

Sorry for the poor explanation. No water line break. The water line runs into the basement, but I don't want to go there and then have to run a line to the backyard. But a hydrant would be the ticket because I just need to water garden, fruit trees, etc. A hydrant down onto the pitless from the top would be the ticket. I just didn't know how to stop the water from going into the existing water line, and up through the hydrant. Thanks rusty nuts.

What rusted nuts says will work, but it is not normally done because the water draining out of the hydrant goes down the well. This can include anything which might be in a puddle which a hose might be in while hooked to the hydrant. The potential problems are HUGE. You can contaminate your well.
