pivot pin/bushings

mf40-me

New User
Just changed the pin and bushings on my mf40 ind. Found that the keeper bolt that holds the axle in place was broken, so i am not sure that i am in trouble yet. However, the bushings are such a tight on the pin that i half expect them to spin in there housings. Any suggestions?

The reason that i included the piece about the bolt is that now, the axle is rolling on the pin, the pin is stationary, not the other way around. Hopefully though the new bolt will stop that.

on my 135, bushing was just barely worn thru into the axle, used permanent locktite and bushed both sides of the axle, 3 years later still going strong

old pin was solid but new pin was hollow, keeper locked pin in place

maybe you bunged up the inside of the bushing a bit when you drove it in, reamer that size is costly, might pull it back apart in your spare time and die grind any ridge down, pin should have just slid in with light taps of small hammer

Find a small flap disc for a die grinder that fits in the bushing and you could polish it up enough to make a looser fit. If you found one that needs to be flexed a bit to get in would be ideal. It would keep the hole nice and round but a smaller size will still work fine. Dave
