Please explain this tractor

First off, what is it? I’m guessing 10-20 because it looks similar to mine.

And what are those steel uprights?

Lastly, how would you move it onto a trailer?

For $600 I imagine it isn’t going anywhere soon.

It a McCormick WD 40. Early model. What up rights ? Get it on a couple skids and drag it on. Where is it located

To bad that is on the wrong side of the country. An early wd40 would be a cool tractor. I wonder if the upright steel that you see are remnants of a canvas cab?

I agree probably some kind of cover for shade. And more than likely homemade using what they had available.

Take that garbage off, it does nothing for the tractor.

Its got a pretty tall muffler on it. Maybe those irons sticking up are there to protect the muffler when going under trees. Just a guess. It would help to see the top of the irons and muffler in the picture. looks like to me the operator didn't like the idea of breathing diesel fumes.

My Guess is a WD-40, I see four spark plugs and the carburetor on right side implies gas start diesel. Certainly a W?-40 what the ? is open to investigation

certainly is the wd40 , 1935 model year i say. it has the early ihc brass carb. and exhaust pipe towards the rear of hood. the newer models had it at the front of hood in 1939 and 1940 which was the last year before the wd9 came out. theses wd40 had 3 styles of heads. early ones had injectors in the valve cover, then in 37 they had the 10 degree injector head, then the last ones had the 45 degree head like the wd9. plus this one would have steel wheels. mine is 1939 on factory rubber and has red paint, while this one would be the old grey blue paint.

It’s worth all of that. Too bad didn’t have a pic of injection pump side. Im sure everything is all rusted and seized , but these parts are pretty scarce. Something like 3600 of these built.

I'm with rustred on the timbers. One on each side, front to back. Cut a slope on the bottom of each timber. Attach them at the front axle, and winch it onto the trailer. Planks under the timbers with short pipe rollers in between, you could push it by hand on level ground.

Looks like it found a new home, likely with an incurable rust addict. Probably a good deal for someone motivated to skid it onto their trailer.
