plow identity

I PURCHASED A 2-12 PLOW AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MAKE ETC. ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS ITS RED. IT HAS A COAT OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE IH RED BUT UNDERNIETH IS A DARKER RED. THERE ARE NO TAGS AND THE ONLY NUMBER I CAN FIND IS ON THE RAIL, 660363M2. SINCE IT HAS RED PAINT AND THE NUMBER HAS A M,I THINK IT MAY BE A MASSEY BUT I DON"T KNOW

I am more inclined to think that number is the IH style. Look at all the casting parts carefully, manufacturers often stamped the logo like IH or MH on some of them. Particularly on bearing hubs.

hi
does it look like this one? i have a pair of them and i don't know what they go to either. don't need them but they are in darn good condition.
numbers are: 21H3972 CY142ASOLID MM

That's a Ferguson/Massey Ferguson plow part #. Later models that used some of the same parts common to the 66 used part #'s with 66 prefix. m1 or m2 at the end of number is common to almost all Massey plow parts of 50's, 60's and 70's vintage.

Hmmm.... If that share is green on the backside, has 2 bolt holes in the tip, and 3 or 4 more along the back side, then it's a Kverneland share.
There ought to be a stamped number on the back with an arrow near it....
Kverneland bottoms were used on Deere plows at some point in time. I don't know if they still are though.

If the numbers are around the headstock, then it may be Kverneland. They had a model M, and I think that looks like one of their numbers. IT would have a share like the one pictured below.

this plow share is a quick attach. two pins. one as behind the dog leg flange on one on the back of the share. the brace is the only part that a bolt goes thru. any more thoughts?

No, not really. From the front it looked like Kverneland, but not from the back. Their shares that I'm familiar with are retained by 4 bolts only. There is no lip on the land side either. Their main feature is that they have replaceable tips, so there would be 2 bolt holes on the tip of the share for the reversible tip to be bolted on. Unless this is an ancient Kverneland part... it's certainly not one of their even semi modern shares.... and by that I mean 1960's forward.
That said, it is striking how much the shape looks like Kverneland.... so I dunno.
I guess all I can suggest is that you take a wire wheel to the back side of it and see if there's any more numbers under there, or an arrow indicating a Kverneland genuine part. All their parts are stamped with an arrow near the part number. Their numbers are also strictly numerical. There's no letters that I'm aware of.
Mabey this is a Massey like some of the other guys are suggesting.

I'd also say that the share is probably about 1/2 worn by the look of it. There would generally be about 2" worth of wear material below the paint line, and this one looks to have about 1" left?.... so that's likely over half worn. Go too far and it's cuts into the frog.
