plow wing protection

finished my fall garden breaking,
3-12" Ferguson plows have to set outside.

i have tried cheap spray paint on the wings but no more plowing than i do the paint never comes completely off.
I have tried thick grease, but most of it is gone by spring.

anyother suggestions other than build the plow a barn, my dad would never let the old plows set outside, guess he would kick my butt if he saw them setting outside.

I just want something that will stay on the wings and yet shed off quickly when i start breaking.

However, does it hurt the plows to build up a thin crust of rust, the rust seems to shed off fairly quickly???

any suggestions!!!!!!

Grease or beeswax. If it comes off, refresh it. It's cheap and effective.

coat them with penetrol after you get done with them.

Put the grease on then cover with plastic ,something like a large plastic sack or even bale wrap will do.

I've had good luck with giving them a healthy coat of grease then covering the grease with a good coat of dirt/dust.....Then shoving the plow in the shed.

thanks for your replys,
will tell mama you guys thing i need to build another barn to store my plows, bet she will go for that.

did grease them heavy yesterday, will place plactic over the grease, maybe that will protect the wings some.

Neither are very expensive, and easily available.
Waste fat and bacon drippings are dang near free if your pennies are THAT tight! :lol:
