Plug-in Thermo Switches

Sometimes called cold switch or various other names. I’m trying to buy switches for stock tank heaters that come on at about 28-30 degrees shuts off at 35 or so. The ones I located locally range from 38 on, to 50 off which in my opinion is a tremendous waste of power. I actually have no need for heat above 32.
What are you guys using and where do you get them? Thanks,

Do a google search for 'thermostatic outlets' ..... I've got one that comes on at 34 & goes off at about 45 that I got at H. Depot that I use on a diesel block heater ..... I mounted it on top of the engine ...... works when the engine heater calls for it and the underhood temp has dropped below 34

The Rural King store near Wooster, OH has these in several different temperature ratings. You might want to check at www.ruralking.com

www.thermocube.com

The ones I use are on at 35 and off at 45.

Rural King in Murphysboro, IL is discontinuing them - had one left the other day.

You are looking for an adjustable temperature controller. Here is a link to one that is digital and can be controled to either heat or cool, for stock tanks you would use it in heat mode. You can set them just how you are talking, on at 32 degrees and off at 34 degrees or whatever specific degrees you want. You can also set the temp swing. If you want to warm it up and than stay off longer or just keep it right at 33 degrees, its up to you. Hold on to your hat though, they are pricy. With a controller though, you can use all your old heaters that broke and are only in the "ON" mode because the temp controller will turn it off and on for you. Sometimes heaters fail when they are off, those you cant use.

If you dont like that price, just google "johnson controller". I know there is at least one other company that sells these as well besides Johnson Controls.
