I have a 1952 B with a Wico "C" magneto,(retro fitted from an older b). What spark plug should I use? A non-resistor? How much gap? This tractor leads a very easy life .

The Wico C mag isn't quite as hot as the Wico X that would have come on your tractor. Don't use a resistor plug with any magneto ignition. I have the best luck with Autolite 3116, but on light service, parades, etc. you will still get some fouling. If the tractor has shutters, keep them closed to run as warm as possible. Set the carb as lean as you can will also help. Avoid prolonged idling.

I agree with Pauls good advice, with that Mag I"d definitely want wire core NOT carbon core suppressor plug wires,,,,,,,,,the good choice 3116 Autolite is non resistor plug,,,,,,Id run a plug gap in the 0.025 to 0.030 range,,,,,,,but more important then plug brand for the "easy life" you describe is to keep the temp up to 180 and over with shutters or other radiator air restrictions and as he says NO OVER RICH CARB SETTINGS i.e. run the carb on the lean side and avoid any excess black smoke which will black carbon foul the plugs

I found that today's gasoline will foul plugs very easily, but by adding some Octane 100+ boost available from walmart helps to eleminate plug fouling.
If too much octane boost is added it will also foul the plugs but the plug will have a rusty metal color to it.

I know that the octane boost has helped me and many other tractor owners around here from fouling plugs.

Hi magirl, I like the AC C88L plugs. As John said, you want the solid wire plug wires.

If you're really interested, this has been discussed at length a couple times. Search for 3116 or 88l in the JD pages.

Good luck.
