Pluralizing a tractor brand .....

Here's a writing composition question for you. For most makes, pluralizing some brands is pretty easy. So at a show you saw one John Deere or two John Deeres. One International, or two Internationals. One Ferguson or two Fergusons.

But what about Massey-Harris?
What about Case?

Massey-Harrises? Cases?

Actually Chief, there is some debate on the plural form of vinyl .... Google it. Meanwhile, you have the volume turned up to high .... counter-clockwise on your knob should do it ...

I'd think multiple MH's would be Massey_Harrii??

Maybe Harr'i?? That sounds a bit too Polynesian, though.

How about a group or collective?

Would a group of Case tractors be referred to as a wake*?

From English class the plural of deer is deer so I saw two John Deere?

You could just shorten it up and say two Masseys.

On the letter series tractors, I would say two A's, three B's, etc.

You might also use the apostrophe for two Massey Harris's.

Just some thoughts.

Actually Red, the jury is out on this subject, even among learned (lerr-ned) English experts who likely do not hang out here. I do think though it is a more valid topic that asking members their opinions on whether or not a person should see a doctor before having brain surgery.

Fergusons would be Fergi…….like fungi.

Apostrophe for possessive or contraction only, not for plurals. However, like every other "rule" in the English language, there is usually at least one exception, if not more.

I asked my wife the English teacher and Massey Harrises would be plural at least that's how it will be said around here. She concurs don't add the apostrophe unless its possessive.

Cubs makes sense since its a word.

how about AA?

The battery size or the supportive group both have dibs though.
