Those don't look like Blue Streak points. I have a few NOS sets of the Standard Ignition/Blue Streak Points and none have that felt wick in them. Now, here's what we found out back in June, 2019. I spent a week with Farmer Dan and we tested and rebuilt several sets of the Ford Front Mount Distributors. The ECHLIN brand, NAPA p/n CS-35, are now junk -the gap can't be set correctly. We did not see any particular Lot No. or serial number and we both purchased sets from different NAPA outlets 100 miles apart. Echlin still have the phenolic rubbing block. The only other phenolic blocks we found today are the Standard Ignition/Blue Streak, p/n FD-6769-X, available at NAPA and on ebay. The other brand is what is sold at CNH now, p/n 8. Those brands performed flawlessly. We tested the TISCO brand too, though they have the plastic rubbing block appear to be much better than the other cheaper brands and had no issues setting. The TISCO brand also comes with a handy, reusable, .015" feeler gage for setting the point gap with. My last set of TISCO lasted me 6 years and were only changed as I wanted to do a tune-up on my 8N for the Eyes On Design show in 2016 at the Edsel Ford Estate. NOTE: ALL the points we tested were at $16 give or take. If you pay more you are being ripped off. One of the biggest issues on the Ford Front Mount is some do not understand how it functions and how it is set up correctly. First, the unit cannot be set and timed right while on the tractor. It must be removed and rebuilt on your bench. Once it passes, it gets mounted on the engine timing cover ONE WAY and if it gets off 180?, it will break and crack the aluminum base and render it junk. You?ll then need to pull the guts out and replace with a new or good used base. The cam/weights are offset as is the cam shaft on the engine and they must match up. When folks give up in frustration with non-starting issues, they assume the solution is to just switch to 12V or an EI job. Nothing wrong with those but if your distributor is set off, you?ll never get it running and just going to EI may get it running but you?ll never know what you did wrong.
