Pole Prunner

I have a poulan pro pole prunner that starts fine but dies after you start cutting, goes to idle then dies, restarts fine and it is the same process. The problem is I can't adjust the carb because the adjusting screws are down in a flange hole and there is no way to turn the screws. If I could get them out I could cut a small groove across them and then use a screw driver. Any suggestions?

If you have had this machine for sometime you likely need new diaphragms in the carb. As to the adjusting screws, Do you know if they are the small one that are splines or are they the fat one with a flat on one side. If they are they fat ones with the flat, you can take a piece of 1/4 inch OD steel brake line. Use a hammer to make a small flat. Then drive it over the adjusting screw wiggling it back and forth slightly. You now have a toll to adjust your carb. You can thank the EPA for these carbs on two stroke engine. It gets worse. Later carbs are fixed jet.
