Pony Questions

Farmall guy and I don"t know anything about MH"s. Need advice. Looking at a 53 Pony. Good tires. Runs well. Working cultivators, roll over plow, and disc. Has the power lift. New paint. This will be a working tractor on vegetable farm co-op. I"ve read a bit on this forum... will parts, to keep a working Pony going, be hard to find? And what do you think about a $3500 asking price. Thanks for your help.

I think that price unless its restored is high.You can find for alot less. Used parts are easy to find. Engine parts are getting very expensive and in some cases certain parts are scarce. I just totally rebuilt an engine like new on my pony did all the assembly myself I"m well over 2000.00 in it with machining costs ,pistons , rods rebuilt,harded seats.ect.....You could do for slightly less but I dont want to go back inside the block in the next 10 years. Hope this gives you some idea. Nice tractor just keep the oil changed frequently

Woods makes a nice mower deck for it. I too think the $3500 price tag is too high, even for one that is restored with new tires. Offer him $1500. Hydraulic lift in much nicer than the manual lift on the earlier Pony's. I got $900 when I sold mine. It ran well, and I rebuilt the steering. Good tires. It had manual lift.

Thanks for the replies. $3500 seems high to me too. Dan
