No wonder I just about am living at the poverty level. I was sitting around thinking about stuff, counting all the tractors, cars, trucks, trailer, implements, etc. etc. I have 88 tires, roughly 280 gals of motor oil, hydrualic, gear oil, then you get into the all the filters. Oh yeah the animals, friggen ponies, dogs, cats they like to eat me out of house and home...geesh I think maybe I should quit myself and get a real job...actually I am content, I'm just venting

You can feed the ponies to the dogs. That might help.

I feed/water birds, dogs, deer, grass, garden, family, cats. I feed things, that's what I do.

I have many tires ,too. Four to each and about 18 or so vehicles and tractors.

i hear ya my vet bill for the cats and dogs is more than what it is for the cows. something is wrong here.
the cats and dogs don't weigh as much as one of the yearling heifers do. so why do they cost more money?
besides that we have to get cats neutered so we don't get more of them and i want more cattle that's what the bull is for,so i can sell calves.
who in their right mind would want to buy a cat?

I talked to an old timer a while back and he said he used to take his tomcats when they were little, and put them head first into old boot, and would then do some cutting of his own. Never asked him about the survival rate, but if everything is somewhat sanitary, I imagine it would be about the same as doing pigs.

If I can't put an animal between two slices of bread, I have no use for it. But if others like them, that's fine as long as they stay out of my yard.

Neighbor of mine used the "boot method" many times (whenever a stray tomcat came on his place, it got a free operation). He said the worst part of it is when you're done- that guy comes out of that boot clawin' and scratchin' anything it comes across, especially the surgeon. He finally solved that problem by throwing the boot, cat and all, out the front door and into the yard, so there was nothing in Tom's way.
