Power steering required for wide front?

No

We grew up with wide front and narrow front and never had power steering on either one. And that included loader tractors.

No doubt the loader would add a considerable ammount of difficulty to the steering, the wide front did turn eaiser than the narrow. I had the round tube wide and it took a huge radius to turn the thing. The narrow went back underneath the tractor for just that reason.

I have a 730 diesel with wide front and no power steering. Also a 730 All Fuel with wide front and no power steering. Wouldn't want to hang a loader on either without it. Otherwise they turn harder but are manageable.
