I just bought an A3436R powr trol unit to go on my 1945 model A. The serial number tag is PVC 41807. One of the seven attaching bolts has a copper washer. The unit has three bolt holes on one side and three on the other with one at the bottom that is near the center. Here is my question...which bolt position needs the copper washer and where can I get a new copper washer, as the one that came with the unit is pretty beat up. Thanks!

Loooks like the upper right-hand bolt takes the copper washer. part# A3105R, you will need A1447R gasket to bolt the Power Trol onto the housing.

Page 133 of the A parts catalog (which is a free download from Jdparts.com) says the copper washer (part A3105R) goes behind the upper left bolt and the other 7 bolts take a 1/2” lock washer.
Also from the jdparts website you can type in this part number and see that it is available from mother Deere for $4.35 and you can order it online and either pick it up at your local dealer or have it shipped to your home.
All of this info is free and readily available from the JD website.

Believe Mark is right. It's easy to tell by looking at it though.

ONLY ONE of the bolts goes through the oil reservoir. All other bolt holes are drilled all the way through the housing. The one and only one that is open to the reservoir gets the copper washer! A lock washer on that bolt will leak oil out and water in.

Page 133 is a Power Trol for the AR-AO Tractor. It lays sideways giving you the upper left bolt. On Rays tractor, the washer goes on the upper right bolt.

Ohps, I was trying to quickly do his homework for him and show him how to do it in the future and I missed the ar-ao part at the top of the page. I noticed it and went back and looked at the parts manual and the regular A is on page 128 and doesn't specify which bolt, thats what I get for trying to play on the internet while simultaneously taking this mandatory 30hr OSHA training class!

alabamafrog, Thanks for your help. It is obvious I need to learn how to look up parts and order direct from the JD parts catalog. I already have a new gasket to go between the unit and the rear housing of the tractor. Where are you in Alabama? I am in Warner Robins, Georgia (just about the center of the state). Ray

One bolt goes int a fluid holding area. The other bolts are isolated from the oil.

I am up between Huntsville and Decatur.
All you go to do is go to https://jdparts.deere.com/servlet/com.deere.u90.jdparts.view.publicservlets.HomeUnsigned and sign up with a user name and password. Then you can access the free parts catalog and downloads and you can see part availability and prices and set it up to either pickup at you local dealer or ship it. It is a great resource. Just got to take you time with it and not get in a hurry and mess up like I did.
