Propane price?

You guys are back messing with my head again.

The only difference between my delivered price and a grill tank is the convenience. I am a small user so they are making me pay out the nose. All I use it for is the gas stove, and that only when it is too hot for the wood cookstove.

did you mean 60 cents per gallon??? about 10 years ago I did get 3000 gal for 63 but thought those days were gone

Tom I'm just south of the Tennessee stateline and I've been paying around $2.499 per gallon. Have'nt bought any yet for this season. Looks like we're a good deal higher than other parts of the country.

Make sure you include all of the fees.

$99.00 lock in fee
$8.00/ mo. tank rental fee
$9.00/ dly. Hazmat fee
fuel surcharge.
Thinking of buying my own tank and shopping for best price.

Anyone own their own tank, any problems.

Small users get to pay 3 bucks a gallon here.Natural gas is coming in so the honeymoon is over for the propane crooks.

Buy your own tank. Prices in my area range widely from about $0.50 to $1.50 per gallon of volume.

With your own tank you aren't tied to one dealer.

To maximize your potential resale value shop for good used tank that has a liquid line discharge and perhaps even find one that has the liquid hose--and fittings--included in the deal.

If you are inclined--with liquid line off your big tank--you can refill your own little '5-gal' (aka 20-lb) size BBQ / camping tanks.

Make certain any tank you buy has a legible tag still welded to the tank. No hydrotest required on propane tanks and refillable so long as original tag is present.

Shop around, there's commonly one around every couple weeks during the summer or in an area that's converting to 'town' natural gas.

Personally, buy larger than you think you need. Find a bargain on gas price and fill 'er up--you can negotiate a better deal the more you buy at one time. You might go a couple years without refilling. Propane might fluctuate but generally isn't getting cheaper. Also cheap insurance during bad weather (winter storms) and you might decide to install a propane generator someday.

Please post back that we may all learn from how you proceed.

Your late to be locking in a real good price. Back in July I was able to lock in $1.39. The price has gone up since then.
