PTO bearing change

My pto shaft has some play in it. Im pretty sure the bearing is gone. I bought a new bearing, bearing seal, bushing, and housing gasket. I also have 5 gallons of GL-1. Im not sure how to change that bearing. ANyone ever did this?

First off, some tractors require the PTO to be in gear, (so parts don't fall down. What tractor do you have?
Second; a manual is a great tool, ("the best investment for any tractor owner").
Drain the oil out, remove the bolts on the bearing housing.
Pull the shaft, (you may need to pull really hard).
Some are very difficult to get moving.
Once off, rebuild (new bearing, seal, ETC), re-install,and fill with oil.
Most take about a pail and a half.
Any troubles post back.
Good luck.

Only replace if it badly worn, and the bearing is sloppy in it.

PS just pull it, (after you drain it) nothing will happen, you don't need to put it in gear.

pull 4 bolts and snatch shaft out, pull outter snap ring.. tap pto shaft down on a piece of wood and you can get the flange to fall out.. now you can get at the bearing and seal.. etc.

an exploded diagram will help you visualize this..
