PTO driven generator/welder?

I am thinking about buying a PTO driven generator to use as an emergency backup if I ever need one. I was wondering if anyone makes one with a welder, as I could use one of those also, and this would give me a reason to hook up and run the generator more often. I have a 435 that produces about 35 HP.

Unless your going to be running things like bulk milk tanks or big electric motors a portable welder will run things in the house. You will need around 7-8,000 watts I know the refigerator doesn't need much juice but it will on start up just like the microwave and the deep freeze that is the reason for it and then you have the welder you want also. Generators are fine but just set around most of the time unless your out in the middle of nowhere.I have a miller welder with the Kubota diesel and it will rower the house if I don't try and run everthing at once.It is about 7or 8,000 watt continous.

I like the idea of a PTO generator cause its one less engine I have to maintain I just use a tractor that I use every day. Probably a little less fuel friendly but how often do you really need one? The generator itself is almost maintenance free so no worries there.

We have in the past used our PTO generator and buzz box welder strapped onto the cart to make a "poor mans" portable generator/welder.

Isn't solid state circuitry a really old term? I'd like to have a PTO welder, but I don't think I'd want one of those. They look kind of crude and are light. The nice thing with smaller portable welders is most of them have automatic idle which saves a lot of fuel. Dave

I agree.
The 435 should handle a 20-25kw alternator.
If it's cold weather the 435 won't start without a block heater below 45-50F if it still has the old factory S type 17 to 1 pistons.
