PTO Reverser

Does anyone know where I can get a PTO Reverser? I am modifing a snow blower to fit on my three point and it used to have a gas engine to run it, but now I want to run it off my PTO shaft. The only problem is that is turning the wrong direction. Thanks.

Does the snowblower have a 90º gearbox with 3 shafts that could be swapped around to correct the problem? (I mean swap the position of the gearbox, NOT swap internal parts.)

If NOT, and you actually need to find a gearbox that will reverse the rotation you are talking BIG bucks.

Take a look at the Surplus Center site... they have lots of weird power transmission components.

Nick.......BAD IDEA, even iff'n you could easily find a "PTO reverser", the low 540rpms of the PTO would NOT THROW enny snow.

'nuttin' wrong with using yer tractor 3-point to pull/push a snowblower around but you NEED the RPMS of that axillary gas engine to power it. Byte the bullet and gitt a new replacement engine. You'll be much happier and money ahead ......Dell

I dont know about any reverser, but I have a 3 point blower hooked up to the PTO, live close to the 'Great Lakes snow belt, and blow a lot of snow. I dont have the blower on any of my Fords, but on a 275 Case IH with a 540 PTO. I can slow it down ground speed I will admit, but I do blow snow in a faster speed comparable to a ford in lighter snows.

I agree the best thing you can do is get an engine to mount on the blower. The only other possibility I see is get a manual 3 speed tranny and feed the PTO into the back put it into reverse and couple the pilot chaft to the blower. This will get you around 1600 rpm into the blower. Be sure to check what the original input speed was before you blow the whole thing up!!!

The original gas engine was missing when I got this snowblower. I am not sure what size engine or rpm was on it originally. If I put a gas engine on it, do I need some type of clutch arrangement? This is a pretty big blower, about 4ft accross and 16" dia. augers. I am not sure I can start the gas engine direct coupled.

Nick........you might want to do an internet search for more information on yer snowblower.

I know of NO internal combustion gas engine that can start with a "load" on the engine without a "clutch". It is either there and you don't know it, or it went "south" with the original clapped-out gas engine. .......Dell
