When dissengage PTO have slight whine. Is there a problem in gear box,and where do i check fluuid is it in rear end or seperate.

I don't know what model tractor you have, but if it is a Super M, Super MTA, 300, 350, 400, 450, etc, they all seem to have a "whine" in the PTO unit when it is disengaged. It is normal. I think it is from worn parts in the PTO unit or something. First thing to check is to see your your tractor is equipped with a Seasonal Disconnect, if you still use the PTO a lot, you don't need to shift out the Seasonal Disconnect. If you are not using the PTO, under the tractor bell housing, kind of towards the rear, there is a small lever with a bolt in it. Turn off the engine and remove the bolt and move the lever back until the second hole in the lever is in-line with the threaded hole on the tractor. Replace the bolt and tighten securely. What this does is it cuts off the power supply to the PTO unit and you will not have the "whine". If you do not know where this lever is, let me know and I can take a picture of one on my Dad's tractor. Some tractors are not equipped with a Seasonal Disconnect, but many of them do have it. To re-connect the PTO, simply remove the bolt holding the lever in place and move it forward and replace the bolt.
