Whats my gtbd going to weigh for pulling? I dont have any hyd or fluid in wheels. I"ll take my belt pulleye off and maybe the pto. Will this give a jd R-830 a run for their money ?

It should be in the 7500-8000 wt. It should also keep up with the Deeres if they are stock. Good chance of beating the R, the 80-830 will be a little tougher

I use to pull a stock "G" Diesel for many years. Stock except for the 28L x 26 rear tires that is. In most track conditons, it will run out of traction and not power in first gear. In second it will run out of both about the same time but go a little further. Most JD 830's will out pull it, but they out weight it by so much that you should not be in their pulling class. Unless of course you add calcium to the tires, and rear wheel weights and front weights, and every weight you can hang on it. I have seen one "G" weighted up to over 12,000 lbs., but never saw it pull. If you want to get serious, you can turn your exhaust manifold upside down and add a turbo to it. When adding a turbo, high compression is not needed nor desirable. Change the pump from PSB to a pump off of a G-1000, were you can increase the pressure. Besides the PSB is impossible to fix if you break the delivery shaft in the head, and good luck finding another pump. I knew a guy with a tractor dealership in Redmond, Oregon who had a puller like that some 30 years or so ago. Nothing out pulled it, but then nobody was "building up" pulling tractors around here back then. I don't think he has pulled with it in over 15 or 20 years. He quit when the real hot rods started taking over. I would suggest staing in as low a weight class as you possibly can get. You will do well. Stay away from the JD 830 class.

tell me more about the turbos. What size ? How hard is it to plumb one in? any pictures?
I have my pump set at 35cc how far can I turn that up ? any ideas how about RPMs ?

I pull GB with 605 LP NO tubo. Weight is 16,000 low gear and never run out of power always spin out! But hang on she gets in to jumping at the end the pull, by the way I got 30.5 32 rears 10A4232 heads 290psi per cylinder about 200HP at 620 pto speed. Bring on the 5020 JD the 830 run out off power.

Sounds like fun, if you happen to have a pic of this thing post I'd like to take a peek at it.
so did you stoke it as well ?

I just bought some 18.4x38 firestone radials 23 degree 90% and I'll mount them on 18in rims. We can only run stock blocks for the "farm stock" class. The antique pulls are all stock and some check rpms

It is a factory 605 stock from M/M 4 5/8 X 6 with big bell housing, it bolts right in under the GBD hood an frame. I will get some Pic. tomorrow.
