Looks like a tang drive to me. What was that thing on originally?

(quoted from post at 15:27:04 08/30/11) this was hooked to the loader.. i dont know how to make it work with the shaft drive i have.
any clues?

Off the top of my head I'd suspect the pump mounting point on the loader provides some sort of bearing mounted hub with a slot to drive the pump. The shaft probably drives the hub which in turn drives the pump. Post a picture of the pump mounting area on the loader and I might be able to offer more specific comments.

Obviously you are missing something important - the pump mount!!! Based on the pics I would guess there was some sort of tractor mounted bracket for the pump. Looks like you will need to fabricate or purchase some sort of mount for your tractor. I would suggest simply replacing it with an inexpensive shaft drive style pump but there is no place on the loader to mount that either.

kinda what i figured... well if i bough the pump shown on the site i could prob make something to come off the front mount area to come up to hold the pump. i have a good buddy who is a good fabricator. he worked for the railroad as a welder for years. wish me luck. looks like gotta start saving for the pump

That loader pump setup on this site is way more expensive than anything you need - $100 will get you a common SAE-A gear pump more than adequate for your needs. I've bought dozens of these pumps - made in South Carolina. When ordering watch the item number closely - you need straight shaft with CCW rotation and these pumps come CW or CCW as well as straight or splined shaft:

Another $30 will get you the foot mount for it:

(quoted from post at 21:32:43 08/31/11) as usual i thank you hokie.. i am truely in your debt. thank you for all you help!

Make sure you get the correct fittings for the pump ports. They are ORB style ports not plain pipe threads - SAE-12 (1-1/16-12 UN) on the sucton side and SAE-10 (7/8-14 UN) on the pressure side. If you can't find what you need locally let me know - I have a good selection and they are cheap to mail.

Just a thought but I don't see it mentioned anywhere in this thread. Have you thought about a filter? Mine is mounted at the pump. I don't know if you have one elsewhere.

(quoted from post at 12:48:57 09/01/11) this has a 5/8 shaft.. will this work with my 3/4 drive?

You will just need a 5/8" flange on the pump side of your flex coupler. If you can't find one at a reasonable price give me a yell and I'll make one for you.

(quoted from post at 22:36:43 09/01/11) Thanks Hokie, Would you mind if i got your phone number or something so i could call you about pricing out making me one? If not Email me a price and what not to [email protected]

I've made them before for folks who didn't want to pony up the ridiculous price of $35 most supply houses want for one. Ain't no big deal to make - $15 should cover it. I will need to know the bolt hole spacing on your coupler. You can reach me on my cell most days between 8AM and 8PM EST.
