Put SAE 40 in Ford 2000 Engine. Is this a problem?

I jus accidentally put new SAE 40 instead of 10W-40 in my Ford 2000 engine(Gas - 1964).

I really haven't run it more than a few minutes.

Should I drain what I just put in there and replace it, or should it be ok?

Fordfarmer is correct.
40 wt. wont hurt your engine but it will be hard to turn over come winter if you live in cold country.
Oil pressure reading is a little harder to answer.
I'm less familiar with those engines but I would guess it should run 40+ at mid rpms when new.
An older engine that is worn might only build 25 psi at mid rpms and under 20 at idle. Still could have a lot of usefull life left in it though.
Putting 40 wt in will help build oil pressure.
I don't know that it will provide more lubrication than a lighter oil but it will look better on the gage.

Assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, you are ok for the next 3-4 months.

I do 2 oil changes on equipment that runs year round. Spring goes to 15w40 and fall goes to 5w30 or 5w40. Makes it easy. If It doesn't run in the winter, I like to change the oil in the fall so the acid build up won't mix with water condensation and potentially cause issues.

Old ford can be as low as 5 psi hot idle, 15 at pto speeds and be ok. That's the nervous low end. Any thing over that is fine. Naturally, if you are running 25 hot idle and 50 hot at pto speed, it will last longer!

Often a quick oil pressure pop can come from a new pump or even a shim washer on the relief valve. The pump wears too, and a weak pump in a worn engine will have much lower pressure than a new pump in the same engine.

4cyl 2000 is just like a 601 ( or the 801, it's larger brother ).. 40w won't kill anything. i run 40w in my 850 .. and 30w in my 660.

When winder comes, add a quart of MMO to the oil.. it will thin it up.. then adjust level..e tc.
