Question on NI 314 sheller

I"m assembling this sheller and was putting the wagon auger on and the braces don"t reach the brackets, one is about 4" too long and the other is about 8" too short. I"m wondering if I installed the auger elbow wrong since there was 2 sets of holes. I currently have it so the auger is basically straight up, should I turn it to the other holes so it"s incline toward the pto shaft? I have the book but it makes no mention of which way to place it, and the braces should be positioned correctly per the book with the longer one with the bigger bend on the bottom and to the right side. Any other suggestions that I may be overlooking since this the first time I"ve done this?

Here is a picture of one on a 2 row wide picker. The augers position should be the same.

Are you using this on a "picker" or are you converting it to a stand alone unit for stationary use? I've got a 314 setting in the shed and originally bought it for use on a 325 picker. Capacity isn't enough for a two row but might work quite well on a single row, but don't believe it will fit without some rework. I went to a three row and a 329 super sheller. This works OK to about 150 bu/acre but at higher yields a two row would be a better match. Have considered converting the 314 to stationary use but need more inspiration/ambition.
