Questionable 660 on ebay

A friend called and pointed out a 660 with a fresh DuPont overhaul currently listed on ebay. The steering wheel cap, air cleaner and manifolds all scream 1957 Super 66 but the seller lists it as a 1964 660. I asked the seller about the serial number; the response was the tractor has no serial plate. Sad thing is, there are a couple bids that price it as a 660, not a S66.

well I cannot say for sure because I was not there when she was born ...but I do know this, I have my dads 660 that he bought new( which I have lived with now for 45 yrs. ) and my brother has a 1960 and both of ours have the same air cleaner and manifold as the one advertised, buy it and keep the hood and sell the rest , have you tried to buy a 660 hood lately ? or a new starter ?

Well I don't know anything about your 660 and I won't try to tell you that I do. The 1959 660 in my shed has an air cleaner and manifolds that match the ones in the parts book for a 660 and the air cleaner and manifolds on the ebay offering clearly do not. 660 air cleaners should have the outlet to the carb at about 45 degrees from horizontal and the exhaust manifold is rear discharge like a 550 with a separate pipe coming forward to the center outlet. The 660 has a different head than a Super66 with bigger valves and ports and the manifolds are bigger to match. The 660 carb mount flange is bigger than a Super66 as well.

new hoods for a 660 available in Ontario, just but one on a 1959 660 real nice job, also have a 1963 Cockshutt 660, no oliver on the axles, just rowcrop, no name on the grill center strip, Oliver on the manifold ground off, but still has Oliver stamped in the fenders, painted Harvest gold and red with some green showing through on some parts, I have been told there was only 15 got tagged Cockshutt??????

I sent the seller an e-mail stating that it appeared to be a super 66 and asked the serial number, got a e-mail back that said he couldn't read it it was worn.

Ask him what the 3 casting numbers are behind the starter and the engine serial number.
