R clutch

just bought a R and Iam having clutch problems. there is no snap when engauging the clutch,the clutch lever hits the dash what is the order of disks and drivers? better yet a diagram that shows this. yes I have ordered a book not recieved it yet THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I read that you can get free downdoads of repair &parts manuals. how do I get them?

You can try adjusting the 3 clutch bolts and see if that helps but a good tear down will prob. be in order soon.

Go to jdparts.com.

Go to JDParts.com ... click on john deere parts catalog .... do a model search.... type in R .... scroll down to PDF file 183 (PC 183)... wait for it to open then save it to your computer. I did this for all my B's A's & G's. I spent over $25 on each of these catalogs over 12 years ago and now they are free???? Go figure

It is not hard to tear-down the "R" Clutch...

If this adjustment has come on suddenly, I would tear it down for Sure...
Most of the time it is either failed floating friction discs or a broken Clutch Bolt (or worn-out threads on one)..
