R ignition timing

Is the breaker point method of timing a magneto tractor the same as the breaker point method for a distributor tractor?

with Number 1 DC I made sure the magneto drive slot was a close to parallel with the cam as possible (however it is not perfectly parallel) The tractor runs but spits back out the carb a lot, especially when I try to speed the engine up. Also, carb is freshly rebuilt.

any help would be super.
 
Did you turn the magneto backwards to line the rotor up with with no. one sparkplug tower? This is done to eliminate the spring of the impulse. I would think it would be close enough to adjust at this point. No bad wires, traces on cap ect? Good luck
