Radiator hose collapsing

I replaced the lower radiator hose on my TO-30 with a brand new hose. Once it was started the hose collapsed on itself. I did a search on this forum and saw that it did happen with someone else. The recommendation was to put a spring inside the hose. Does anyone know where I can get a spring that will do the trick, or is there any other solutions? It doesn't seem right that i buy a hose specifically made for something and it has to be altered.
Thanks

LOTS of lower radiator hoses are factory-equipped with a coil spring in them to prevent collapse.

What is the I.D. of the hose? Someone probably has a hose lying around with the appropriate-sized spring.

If there's a local auto supply or mom and pop tractor shop near you, check to see what oddball hoses they may have.

Or, post the size here and some of us will take a look to see what we have lying about.

To get buy for awhile you can roll a coat hanger around a piece of pipe to make a nice coil that you can slide indide the hose.

might have to have the radiator and thermostat checked out, flow restiction causes this. not the lack of a spring, most lower hoses don"t need springs.

yes but he stated that he replaced with a new hose. he has other cooling system issues, probably a limed up radiator. from lack of maintence.

Thanks everyone.
I did order the new hose from Wengers of Myerstown PA. The one I replaced was a makeshift one somebody put on years ago. I threw it away, but it may have had a spring in it, but i'm not sure.

Yea, I have to learn to read slower. I missed that.
I would agree with a flow problem.
To do a quick check on the radiator, plug bottom outlet and fill with water. Leave the cap off.
Unplug the bottom and the water should exit with one big gush with some force behind it. If the water comes out slow I would have the core cleaned.

Had the same problem with a new hose.It does not need a spring just replace thermostat.Tractor probaly runs little rough in winter?

I don't know how she runs in the winter. I bought it a while back and have been working off and on since then. I think she sat a while cause I am finding all sorts of gaskets, seals, wires, and hoses needing replaced. She is THAAAAAT close to running condition.

Thanks, Just found acouple of leaks on the top of the radiator that need soldered. I will have the radiator shop do a good "once over" on it.

Does this engine have a thermostat?

If so, a closed thermostat would be the same as a clogged radiator, and the hose shouldn't collapse under that condition.
