Guys, Thunder!! I would love to see 2 weeks of straight rain here in Central Texas!! Still dang dry and we need more.
Later,
John A.

You too? We were getting real good rain for the crops - a few 10ths every other day - but it was driving me bonkers to do any spraying or hay. Was a little much rain for myt heavy clay, but not too bad.

Then we got 5 inches in 2 hours, and 1/4 inches the next nite (anyhow that's what the gauge collected, most of those 2 storms were stronger than a blizzard, rain was going horizontal).

And so now it really doesn't matter any more. Anything that was hay around here was on low ground, so it's still about 2 feet deep over the hay. The corn field is down to just very squishy, but of course the corn died. Tile washed out, both my bridges it started swirling an abutment out on each. Need to move some dirt around.

I shouldn't complain, I still have some nice crops, just took out 10-15%. Five miles either side of me, hail was _bad_, beans are short fuzz, and corn is broken down stalks. It's all gone.

I hear folks have pictures of the funnel cloud going real near to my farm. I couldn't see nothing, too much rain.

So, all in all I'm lucky. But it sure hurts to look at those wet rotting spots in the field, and what was growing there....

And it's still raining every 3 days, a few 10th. Still don't have much hay made. It's way over ripe.

It is unbelievable the difference in weather patterns in different states! I have not seen blue sky since last Sat. a.m., and still raining.

Ya been hard to do the hay again this year. Been having those no good for any thing rains here lately, as in rains hard for 5 minutes and that is it, but enough to stop you from doing the hay. Then last night we got a good rain as in a 1/2 inch first real rain we have had in a long time but still getting just enough rain that if you cut hay it gets washed by one of those 5 minute rains. And of course those 5 minute rains cause it to be humid out so you can not go out side with out geting wet in 5 minutes for sweat

(quoted from post at 14:28:30 07/06/10) I would love to see two weeks in a row with out rain, so I could get some hay baled!

I'd love to see it rain more than once every 3 weeks or so.....Course we are better off today than we were last year at this time. Got 2 inches last week......more than we got last year from May - August. Could actually get some hay baled if and when I get the tractors out of triage...

3 tractors and none are up and running. One in the shop, should have the part for one tomorrow, and the other is dead, unlikely to be resurrected.

I live on the pa/md line, early spring was very wet and now haven't had a drop of rain for a month and the last rain before that was only a tenth! 20 miles north of me has gotten a few more showers than us but its not good, a lot of corn was coming into tassel when this dry spell hit, its going to be an interesting harvest...

You wanna see 2 weeks in a row without rain? Head to this part of Kentucky. It's been nearly 4 since we had any measurable rainfall. It's SUPPOSED to rain tonight and tomorrow. We're praying that it does. A good soaker could save things still. If this one doesn't show up, the guessers are saying another 10 days before then next good chance. It'll be too late by then.

We got dumped on here in central Kansas over the weekend. We were starting to need some rain but the seven inches we got was a little more than what we wanted. It basically rained from early Sunday morning until Monday evening with just brief breaks in between. Sure wish we could send some of it back east. My sister lives in PA and says things are getting a little parched there.

This is what we looked like last year. We went 63 days on 1/10th of an inch of rain from April 28 to June 30.

We were about 12 inches behind when these pictures were taken, by December 31 we were about 2 inches over our yearly average. 2008 wasn't any better.
