Raising plow on 8N

Heather........the 400lb, 2-bottom, 3-point attached plows use the tractor's internal PTO operated hydraulic pump to lift so it can be moved. You do know about the PTO lever behind yer left heel, don't you? Otherwize, moving the plow OFF the tractor is generally a "pry-bar" levering operation, a few inches at a time. And surprizingly enuff, a 108-lb beauty queen can do it by hand, just kinda awkward.......Dell

Been about 10 years since i sat in the seat of an N tractor so i'm extremely vague on remembering how this works. But I THINK you start up the tractor, push and hold in (or down) the clutch pedal and flick the lever behind your left heel forward i think.
Here i get real fuzzy, there's a lever on your right hand side try sliding that lever to the top of its rail then let the clutch out. The lifting mechanism at the back of the tractor should raise up with the attached blade or whatever with it.

I hope that helps but like I said, i dont really remember exactly how it works. Jump in the seat and start pulling levers and pedals and stuff and see what happens! lol!

Sorry I couldnt be more useful

Heather--

Put your tractor in neutral on a flat area, put the clutch in and start the engine.

Move the lever behind your left heal to the REAR and this will engage the PTO. When you let the clutch out your PTO will start moving.

Underneath the right side of the seat there is a small lever about 3" long. Make sure this lever is in the vertical or upright position. It only should be put in the horizontal position when you have the plow in the ground.

You can now raise and lower your implement/plow.

You do this by moving the large lever that is found behind your right leg on the side of the tractor.

Pull the lever up and the implement will raise. Push the lever down and the implement will fall.

If this doesn"t work, your hydraulics need to be looked at.

HINT---buy an owners manual for your 8N for starters.

Good Luck----Tim

Thank you! I came home from work and got the old girl fired up! She is BRIGHT RED and will have black spots! A lady bug tractor cute eh?

Dell-- Well hardly a 108 beauty queen just a single mom wanting to move it about.... lifting it was way easier than taking it off! I forgot about the lever behind my left heel! Thanks it is out and sitting in the sun!
Thank you!
