Rare John Deere?

Just got finished refurbishing my 46 A. Had so much fun I'm considering doing another project. Would like to find something rare and bring it back to life. What model should I look for?

The most underpriced rare John Deere is a BWH with a production number of 259. It has the anteater front axle, 40 inch spoke rear wheels and 96 inch axles. Also a 2010 gas highcrop is low production and sells cheap.

The unstyled BWH had a production of 51. Unstyled BW was 247. BNH are also very rare but the most rare are the BW-40 and BWH-40 plus the set screw BWs.

the rarest and most expensive tractor is the one you would
never sell. all of the fun comes from the hunt of the correct
parts and people you meet along the way. any model John
Deere proves to pull its own weight. i recommend browsing the
archive for sale adds here to find something that catches your
eye......and wallet, then let the fun begin.

Shoulda kept you ear to the grindstone a week ago. I'd like to know how 'rare' my 53 - 60 single front is. It's all phun !!

The 101 was an experimental model built in the early 1940s.
The sale at Yellow Springs, Ohio a couple weeks ago one brought $240.000.00:

How rare do you want to pay for is what you need to ask your
self. Lower the production number, higher the price and the
harder to find correct parts for. I have a nice original 50lp one
of 731 made. Even less of the 520 & 530 lp's where produced.
But most parts are common with the gas tractors or other lp
models and easly found. Plus its a usefull tractor to have
around. Theres lots of John Deere's with production numbers
of less then 1000 that can be found at fair prices. Some might
say 1000 or even 731 not rare but its what i could afford and
isnt common by no means.

(quoted from post at 20:21:42 09/02/13) Can't help on what to look for but speaking of rare, I believe there was only one model BI made into a crawler by Lindeman.

thats correct. sold for 116K 3 years ago at polks sale.

We have RX-786 Experimental, a/k/a, 8207080.
Only 820 Diesel that left the factory with the 830 front axle. Last 820#. Has many experimental features. It is rare. Have all the history. Not for sale.

The AOS (A Orchard Streamlined) is a unique tractor that I'd love to have. Problem is finding one that's mostly all there... and then making up the missing pieces. Or pay somebody big $$ for one that's all there. Really cool nose piece on them...

second AOS off the line (#1002) also sold at polks labor day sale in 2010. $14500

Not as exotic but I have a 840 that was pulled from the line , built into a experimental then returned to "stock" and sold as new.
The other 840 is the only one of four documented 1961 two cylinders .
