Rare/Luckey Find Update

Keep in mind my Father in Law worked for H. Ferguson in the service department during the transition (mid 50's) Not sure when this tractor was accully assembled, but I think it would have been well after the merger. The hood has an indent down each side of the full lenght. Does this indicate a MH-50 hood? The front hood ornamate is from MF, a chrome winged (bird?)covering the air intake to the filter underneath, and a MF triangle emblem on the front. Some of you said, "do not change a thing". When I get the pictures to down load, you'll undstand why it needs to be painted. I'm thinking of a combination Cream, Green, Metalic Silver, Gray, and Red, based on casting dates and serial #'s of each componet. This is going to be fun!

pojo, you listed the the engine number then it is a Continental engine, What do you mean when you mention K-zoo Mich? I know the engines were made in Muskegon, Mich. But was wondering what the reference to Kalamazoo, Mi. has to do with it. Thank You Richard

To answer the hood question, yes, the indent down both sides would indicate a Massey Harris 50 hood! I believe the MH50 may have had one of the birds on the hood also. There were 2 or 3 different style birds. What grill does it have? Does the center panel unscrew like a 40, or are the side pieces hinged and you remove screws and pull out the side pieces from the sides, like a 50? I assume the air filter is behind the center panel.

Wouldn't it be an F-40 model? They were a cream color with red grill screens and gray powertrain. Dave

Richard; that would be an age thing on my part. Thinking one thing and saying/typing something else. It is Muskegon for sure.
Phil; the side panels are hinged The top chrome trim has a MF triangle insignia. the air cleaner is behind the grill. This is a true hybred from the Detroit factory.

Side panels hinged and indents in hood would indicate MH50 sheet metal in that part of the tractor.
