Rare TO35 Deluxe?

Just purchased a tractor that turns out to be a 1958 Ferguson TO-35 Deluxe Diesel. Going to use it to plant wildlife plots and give my atv a rest. Just wondering how rare or collectable this tractor is, if at all.

Thanks, wasn't sure how involved I should get in restoring it. Real good shape, but I do want to re-paint sheet metal and add decals, etc. Is their a site/chart that list how many were produced in those two years as an "ferguson" vs MHF?

Went to look at a few Ford 8n's and stumble upon this tractor while enroute. Looked like it was an 8n, so I stopped. Farmer gave me a little history lesson on Ford and Ferguson, ended up buying this TO-35. So far very pleased. Now I'll just read all the archived post concerning TO35's and looking forward to future correspondence from other members. Rod.

If you search "Ferguson Enthusiast of North America" referred to as FENA on the web, you will find a dedicated Ferguson site that has some very useful facts. There are links within the site showing wiring, production numbers, color schemes, color codes in modern paints, etc.
You may also want to look at the "Tractor Photos" section on the left of this site and then search your model. There will most likely be pics of your tractor-restored with ideas as far as decal placements.
Congrats on your purchase.......comparing a 35 Deluxe to a 8N really isn't being too fair to the poor little Ford. Ha ha

The TO-35 cam out in 1955. The production run rand until 1964.

Known as the Ferguson TO-35 from 1955 to 1960 then as the MF-35 from 1960 to 1964.

nearly 250,000 made and known as the worlds most copied tractor.

The Diesel is desireable as are tractors with live power and power steering.

Company was know as Massey Harris Ferguson at the time (MH combined with Ferguson in 1953) ran a two-line policy MH and Ferguson through 1957. Like Ford, Lincoln & Murcury 3 brands same company. Then became just Massey Ferguson in 1958 and all tractors became MF models.

The exception was the Ferguson TO-35 It retained the TO-35 model designation, as the others changes, because of it's popularity.

The TO-35 would be more comperible in power and features to a Ford 600 or 800 series. You got a lot better tractor.

I would like to extend an invitaion to you to join FENA. It is a great orginization.

LOL. I do like the 8n, but you can really tell the difference of the two in size as it pertains to the rear. In all fainess, the 8n"s I was looking at were 1952"s. The farmer original told me the Ferguson was a 50-51 when I was buying it, it wasn"t until I did some research here and at FENA that it was an 1958. I"m very happy, the deer will be happy, but the local friendly farmer who plowed/disked my fields yearly will not, he"s losing some business. He"ll proably be happy actually, now he can spend more time on his own fields. LOL.

Thank you Jeff, it's bookmarked for reference as well as YTC. I'm sure I'll have many more questions in the future. Sorry I'm not going to make the gathering coming up in a couple of weeks here in upstate NY. Being a newbie and all, the exposure to the vast follwers of Massey-Fergusion would have done me good in an educational way. My weekend will be spent reading the archives here and other material at FENA in hopes to acquire as much info that my tiny memory can retain. Thanks again, Rod.

I've had an 8N. I have farmed about 20 years with a MF-135 which is the next model after the MF or TO35. The 8N is a toy compared to these MF tractors. Its too light and wimpy to do the work these MF tractors do.

I have added a JD 4020 to the fleet for greater cultivation and spraying clearance, at a serious extra cost in fuel over the 135, so I've been doing as much as I can with the 135, like planting and initial spraying. This year I rented out the place so I'm not doing anything with it.

Its not a tractor that you will reap great financial rewards by restoring it to exactly the way it came from the factory, but its a tractor that if you care for it, that will work for you for decades on a 10 to 40 acre patch whether you plow or go notill. You can reap your own satisfaction by cleaning, painting, and decalling, but only the cleaning will really affect its usefulness in the field for the next couple decades.
