Ratchets part 2

I am looking for a 3/8" drive ratchet with an extra long handle. I know Snap-On makes one, and if I have to I will bite the bullet and buy one, but does anyone know if someone else makes one? Yes, I am hesitating because of the cost. If you're wondering why, look at Snap-on's price. Thanks in advance.

Check out a Gearwrench brand ratchet. They have the same design as a Matco. And Honestly they are the same ratchet with the exeption of an O ring on the anvil and some diffrent script. I think you can pick up a 12 inch flex head for around 40 bux. Advanced had them on sale a couple of months back for 19.99. I have a Matco, Snap On, and a Mac and I like the Gearwrench ratchet better than most of them. If you cant find on Armstron has the same design and it is made in the US. They usually run around 85 bux.

Looked at Advance on line and they list one for $31. I hope it will hold up, but I havn't had any trouble with Gearwrench wrenches yet, so I'll think I'll try one. Thanks for the tip.

I really like my Snap On ratchets..just not shure why they are no longer stamping USA into them....They are still claiming to be US made.. Ie "For now"
I am still using ones that I bought over 20 years ago - heavy use every day..may need a rebuild from time to time..but at least they are rebuildable.....
There is no Mac or Matco dealer in my area so I cannot compare my Snap Ons to them...

Other companies that make long handled ratchets besides Snap-On include: Wright, Armstrong, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, SK, Proto, Craftsman.

For me, I would either go with the Snappy or the Wright (100% US made). Next would be the Armstrong.

Check e-bay.....

Not real good looking, but handy and will do the job. Take a ratchet of choice and weld a comb wrench on the ratchet handle with the open end of the combo wrench cut off. Can make any lenght needed before welding. 1/2 or 9/16 wrench is a good size to use on a 3/8 drive ratchet.

As soon as I can get to a welder I have set up 8 crescent wrenches to be welded to 3/8 drive ratchets. Using 8 inch crescents. When I set up 10 inch crescents will use 1/2 inch ratchets.

Using flea market tools till I see how they work and also sell.

It will hold. they will twist the square shank off before it will damage the gears. I was a Matco dist for over 2 years and never seen that gear design fail. BTW, a Matco fine tooth kit Will fit into a gearwrench or armstrong. they are the same ratchet but a lot cheaper.
