Hi Buzz!! I am a GM retiree. The union does not have our pensions. That got farmed out to Fidelity. The union does have my health care, and it has been cut back quite a bit. The pension was funded over the years by the company, due to the evil government requiring it, ( ERISA act 1974 ) and the evil union pushing the issue. Basically, the company divorced us in bankruptcy, handing over the pension to Fidelity and health care to the union. The UAW never has been in the pension biz, unlike the Teamsters. We didn't have any Jimmy Hoffa's either.
