Need some help, putting alog splitter together w/ odds and ends we have in our shop, have an 8HP Honda motor w/ hydraulic pump and a 3.5" x 28" hydraulic cylinder with a 1.75" piston.
Will the cylinder work? The splitters I see at Tractor supply appear to have larger cycliders with larger pistons.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Peat//I am running same piston home mader 40 years old. With 8 hp us releaf valve set at 2000 psi we split oak&maple mostly .Secure ram to I beam with slides.

3.5 inch cylinder--formula for force is pi R squared times pressure. 1.75x1.75=3.0625x3.14=9.616 sq. in. x 2000 psi =19,232 pounds ram force. 2500 psi=24040 pounds. hope this helps leroy
