That looks very nice. A 1949 model? Excellent job on the seat cushions. My dad and I made seat cushions for my ZAU when I restored that. Good work. Thanks for posting pictures.

Looks really nice - post serial number (tag on right of transmission) and we can tell year for sure - but its a late R - one minor point I think air cleaner cap s/b yellow. best, Ed

Paint is NAPA 3749 Acrylic Enamel Martin Senour Crossfire
Red is Valspar Tractor Supply Farmall Red with alot of hardener.

Primed bare metal with a sandable primer. Sheet metal was sandblasted along with what ever small parts I could get off without too much problems.

Red cap.... well it was that way when I got it and I kind of liked it... So that's how I know it's mine in a crowd!

I looked up the S/N before and lead to 1949. Thus the type of decals, orderd them off R-M Distributors, they fixed me up with the right ones. Real nice ones and a good price too.

Congratulations ,How in the heck did you find replacement parts for that thing a 1949 model,I've got a 1957 Moline and parts are very hard to find some of the bone yards think their parts are made of gold.,not just the color.
Mine is a working tractor but I would love to give it some refresher TLC.

Well started by reading a ton on here. Prairie Gold Rush Magazine helped to find some vendors, but most are listed here too.

And for things like seals and things as long as you can read the original numbers or can get a good measurement, most things are still made or you can find some other part that is similar. Like the steering joint, got a similar one that fit perfect from NAPA. Brake springs I found on Ebay, but they were listed for a much newer tractor, they fit perfect.
A few other things I just had to make, like pins for the hydraulic cylinder.

Tires I bought a JD MT that had next to new tires and swapped. (11.2x34 tires are around $600 a piece) I should be able to sell the MT and still be ahead.

The tractor junk yard around here has a fiew but there arn't many good parts left.

On the seat, well I asked, she said I'm gonna be paying for that for a while.... so I'd say it's a one off custom right now!
