rear axle bearing

i am trying to get the bearing on the axle r side. So far no luck. i am hammering the axle from the outside because i believe the axle is one piece with the brake plate. i find too much resistance and dont want to break the whole thing. if i hammer (the axle) rfrom the inside out, i cant either. the bearing is stuck reason for which i want to change it. any suggestions?

Not clear on what axle you have. Assuming it is from a rearwheel drive car or light truck, the ones I have dealt with were pressed on and were removed by taking it to an auto parts store where they used a hydraulic press to press the old bearing off and press a new one on.

dear glenster, thanks for your help. using the diagram, i tried to bump the differential axle in and out and cant get to be released. i am not sure if the bearing is stuck to the shaft. bearing is not stuck to the housing i wonder if heat may help unstuck it from the bearing. i bumped it hard but not to the point of breaking the housing. any suggestion? thanks
