Red diamond engines

Where were RD engines used and where can I find info on
them. Were they ever used in farm tractors and or combines. I
was told they were used in power units also. I was also told
they were used in tractors and combines but I can"t find any
info that supports this. Any tips on where to look? Thanks in
advance.

I just Googled "Red Diamond Engines", and a whole page came up. Obviously they were manufactured by and for International Harvester trucks, tractors and power plants. Seems they also had a Blue Diamond, and a Black Diamond engine. Check it out.

Thank you shadetreeret, but I need to what engine was put where. I am only concerned about the rd engine. They where originally put in trucks. Some say that a tractor was produced from the factory with this engine, is so what tractor, or combine and what rd engine or was it a different version of the rd engine. Like the bd or db. I'm not sure.

The red diamond had different cubic inch motors like the rd450 and rd501, don't know of any tractors with this engine at least this big, from 1934 to 1939 the w-40 standard tread tractors had a six cylinder that resembled the newer truck motors, I have a 1 ton International dump that has a black diamond 264, this engine was the same as my 1958 to 1964 560 farmall with the 263 six-cylinder. they were the same except the head and valve train.

The Red Diamond engines were put in L and R series International trucks...and generally the larger trucks at that. The RD-501 didn't come along until after L-series production ended, but I'm not sure how long after.

They also found their way into stationary power units. I'm not aware of any tractors that left the factory with a RD engine...

Still not going to answer your question maybe.I bought a big PT Int.McCormick combine that had a 400 CU something engine on it.I was told it was a Green?? or Black Diamond. The combine was a 1xxx western.14"-16"head.I sold it to go on a sawmill and don"t know what ever happened to it,but it only run about 1600RPM.No help but maybe track some of those big western PT combines.

I don't know about combines, but the Red Diamond engine was never installed in any production tractor by the International Harvester Company. The W40 tractor used the FBB298 engine which was the predecessor to the Red Diamond engine. Some parts will actually interchange between the FBB298 and the Red Diamond series of engines and a Red Diamond engine will fit in the W40, you just have to use some of the FBB298 parts on it.
