Remember Central Tractor???

Im trying to find some info on a "bush hog" that was sold through Central tractor back in the 90s. They were red and came in 3pt or pull type and 5ft, 6ft and 7ft widths. Trying to find blades but everyone wants a manufacturer.

While waiting for a real reply….

Measure what your machine has left for blades; length, thickness, hole size, bends it has, and how much lift if any.

Search for brush hog blades and you get a lot of results most with these specifications listed.

You could probably match it up and find out what your machine is compatible with.

In 1993 they list blades for slashers they sold. BMB, Howse, United Farm Tool and Caroni. Give me a good description of your blade I might be able to identify it. Length width thickness and hole size.

I'd just pull off a blade and take it to your local farm supply store and see what matches in stock. If nothing, at least it's easier to measure and order.

I remember back in the '60s when we had a local blacksmith/machine/repair shop that would make most any mower blade. Just bring it to him and he'd make a matching one. Usually a week wait for most, but he did make extras for stock of the most popular local ones. He'd also do hardface, extra thick or wide on request.

That kind of service is probably gone forever.

Sorry, I completely forgot I asked about this. The guy who is looking fo rthe blades has taken one of them with him to several places, and either none match up or they want a manufacturer to order them. One of my 2 cutters is the exact same cutter, my dad bought in the early 90s, and Im 99.99% sure it came from Central Tractor because 3 other pieces he bought came from there also through a local CT dealer. That place is gone, and has been for several years. The guy doesnt have internet, and is bringing me a blade to measure Thursday to see if I can find one online for him.

I found an old catalog for them, but it does not identify who actually made it.

I worked for CT back during the 1990's and the field cutters were made by Howse.
did you work at a local or in the corporate side, I have contact to this day with many of the folks from corporate, Several went to asap actually, a few are still there to the best of my knowledge? To the op I can look through some of the stuff I was given by a couple contacts and see if I have anything that may help you. I just did a little checking and even CT's master carb guy is still alive!

At a store here in New York State from 1989 to 2001. I knew some of the people in Des Moines such as Judy Walker and Herb in used parts. Batavia, NY was a gathering point for used tractors to be salvaged so I got to know the two Ken's. Elliot Brody was a good guy to talk to but I think he over-reached when he wanted to make CT a full blown retail operation. But I recall he was bought out to the point where he only had a small share in the company when the investors started expanding the store numbers. Some good times and some not so good times when I worked for them.

Do an Amazon search for Howse mower parts. They show lots of mower blades. HTH
