removing a piston

Anyone have a good trick to "bust" a stuck piston out of a sleeve. This one has soaked for about 6 years with no movement. Its time to get going so I"d like to get it out by what ever means. It had water in it which rusted both the top and bottom of the sleeve. Aluminum in cast iron sleeve. The rod cap is inaccessable with the crank positioned where it is. Thanks.

An H that I bought had the same problem. My solution was to take the rod bearing loose and using a two foot long oak 1X1 against the wrist pin, I attempted to drive the piston up out of the cylinder. The piston took the sleeve along with it. At that point it did not look to me like it was worth trying to separate the pair so I did not try.

My neighbor restores Hit and Miss engines. Some are really really rusty. He soakes the cylinder in brake fluid for several days then he soaks a rag in brake fluid and puts it in the cylinder and lights it. It will smoulder all day long but at the end of the day you can push the puston out with your hand. Its amazing.

Throw a rag in each hole and fill with a bit of diesel fuel. Then light 'em up!

While its all heated, whack each piston with a tough piece of oak and a one pounder
