removing weight from JD A

considering removing hyd unit - rockshafts and PTO inclusive of battery and seat assmebly from 1951 JD A in an attempt to get weight down to 4500 or less. Current weight 4950 wo driver. Need to buy or build a replacement rear end housing cover for all the above removed? Will this work / what problems should I consider?
 
Thats a start u wont get yo there.Do you have a rollamatic frontend??What about your wheels,air cleaner??Thers a lot of heavy that is just there
 
i been working on getting one into 4500, not gonna happin got tin wheels,flat back no air filter, best i can do is bout 4800
 
He was pulling 3850 with this Unstyled A last weekend.

A friend used to pull his G in 4000. If you were driving by when he needed to start it he would be throwing a chain over your weight rack because he had no starter.
 
I had a '48 A with pressed tin wheels, no roll-a-matic and I made 4500 with me on and nothing was striped off.

Did you have an aluminum rear cover? My non r.o.m. '48 A weighs in at 4920 with pressed wheels, 16.9's, and me (260 lbs.) on it
 
He is running a duplex carb on it. He has an adaptor on the carb to get it to a single pipe that goes back over the flywheel. The adaptors are listed for sale in the photo ads a while back.
