Repair project or shooting practice?

I got a 1969 snapper and it now needs a ring job. What do you think this is worth? Keep or shoot?

well,if it's mechanically sound other than needing rings,I'd fix it.set of rings and a few gaskets has got to alot cheaper than even another used mower..

Which one is it? I have an LT16002 and LT1250 which I have had to combine to make one decent one. If it's in the LT range I would keep it and re-build it. It's a good little workhorse and they don't make them like that anymore. I know I also bought a 2007 Craftsman GT6500 and spent close to $4k on added implements and such. Whole thing was a complete P.O.S. all plastic and no "oomph" to get anything done other than cut grass on a flat surface golf course style. Took it all back (after a month) and am making the Snapper work now. Just my two cent's worth....

Mine is 25 years old this year. I put a new engine in it five years ago and it works just fine. I'd fix it if the rest of the machine is in decent cond. Check the price of a complete engine @ Small engine warehouse. For me it was best to replace than repair the engine.

to bad u not close to me north east nebr. i got a buddy moving to Az & he has a 3 or 4 yr old craftsman rider he gonna sell i think its a 42 in cut for 600 he paid 2000 for it new he dont take the best care of things but it runs great he the kind of guy that couldnt tell the diff between a flat & philp screwdriver lol
