Replaceable york rake tines?

I have thought about making my own york rake, small 54" or so. Is there a place to buy the curved tines? I checked the Northern tool website and no luck. I could make one of these up in day at work, (on my time, not the bosses) and save $200 doing it.

I suspect they are made of a pretty good grade of tempered spring steel. Might find yours end up bending way too esaily, unless you have access to appropriate material.

A truck spring shop could make them up but they probably won't be cheap. Sometimes it's a lot cheaper to just buy an implement than make one. I wouldn't think a 54 in. would be that pricey.

Try Agri-Supply (www.agrisupply.com) They have 3 types:
1 -hole 1"x5/16" p/n 52646 $2.09 ea
2 -hole 1"x5/16" p/n 33913 $2.99 ea
2-hole HD 1.25"x3/8" p/n 46796 $5.99 ea

I bought a bunch of the one-hole type to refurbish my rake. Wasn"t an exact fit but they seem to work ok. Their phone is 800-345-0169

Hi ZD,

How hardy are the tines in real use? Do they hold up well?

What I'm wanting to do is to use them to rake small surface rocks into a pile then scoop them up with a FL to load. Spacing of tines would be every other inch or less.

Good idea or am I wasting my time?
