replaceing pto seal on to20

I have just recently replaced the pto shaft with the 1 3/8 shaft and it has leaked from day one. can anyone tell me the best way to replace the seal after I remove the shaft? and any idea why it leaked in the first place, I bought the shaft from this site with the bearing and seal already installed.

remove the pto assy, then on the back side there is a snap ring remove it and housing comes off now you can remove the seal. I have seen new ones come in with the seal installed backwards. also double check and make sure the bearing doesn't slide back and forth between the collar and seal sleeve.

do not use a cheap seal. i recommend new holland

the new ones that I just got in from NH yesterday were made in Taiwan, they are simply outsourcing everything for the older tractors. Not any better than the same exact seal you can get from this very site and the ones that make it possible for us to chat.

which direction should the seal go? the tapered lip toward the front of the tractor???

I received my seal today from this site. Is it possible they refurbish these seals? the one i received the outside looks as though it has been machined and the inside looks like it has some type sealer on it.

it has a rust inhibitor on the inside that looks like a sealer and none on the outer side.
